The Directors and employees of Sterling Machining have vast experience of the design, manufacture and use of extrusion tooling. Mainly in the steel extrusion and yellow metal extrusion industry.

We offer a wide variety of services due to our extensive size range of CNC lathes and machining centres as well as our highly trained workforce.

Sterling Machining has over 30 years of experience in providing advice on the design, manufacture and use of Metal Extrusion Tooling, which includes Dies and Mandrels.

Steel Extrusion / Stainless Steel Extrusion require the extrusion material to be heated to in excess of 1000 Degrees Celsius. It also requires far greater extrusion forces than many other metals

Extrusion mandrels are used when extruding tubes or other hollow sections to form the inside diameter or shape of the finished extruded shape.

Sterling Machining can also manufacture a variety of other Press Components in addition to the standard consumable tooling of dies and mandrels.

We manufacture a variety of Valve stems in a range of sizes. Two of the main valve stems we produce are Gate stems and Globe stems that are used in valves for oxygen, acids, sea water etc. These valve stems are made from materials...

We can machine a vast spectrum of difficult to machine alloys, these include Inconel 625, 718, R14, Monel 400, 500, Nimonic 75, Waspaloy, Super Duplex and other heat resistant super alloys.

Our experience and equipment lends itself to the machining of long slender shafts and other components that are difficult to machine due to vibration and distortion problems.

We also have the capability to machine long bores accurately using silent tool technology.
