Extensive industry experience & skills, and a vision to build a company to be proud of - the firm foundation for Sterling Machining.
Sterling Machining was established in 2001 by three directors who had worked closely together over many years, and shared extensive industry experience and skills.
Our initial objective was to manufacture a wide variety of extrusion tooling such as dies, mandrels and pressure pads, and this is still a significant part of our business and skill set.
However, it quickly became obvious that there was a great demand for high quality subcontract machining firms, and we found that our combined skills and experience enabled us to fulfill more technically-demanding jobs, which other companies had to decline,
Our speciality in machining long, slender shafts and other difficult-to-machine components, including heat resistant super alloys such as Inconel, Monel and Nimonic, gave us a niche in certain markets - and a growing reputation as a specialist subcontract machining company that people could trust.
Our ability to deliver a quality product at a competitive price supported rapid growth and we achieved 100% growth in turnover and profit every year for the first five years, enabling us to invest in additional CNC Machinery, including CNC Lathes and CNC Milling Machines - expanding our size range and enabling us to apply our specialist expertise to these areas.
In 2008 we purchased and relocated to larger premises on Speedwell Industrial Estate, Staveley, where we now occupy a 10,000 sq. ft. site.
During some challenging years for the economy, coupled with the decline of the manufacturing industry within the UK over the past few decades, we are proud that Sterling Machining has been able to maintain growth. This could not have been accomplished without our growing and loyal customer base returning time after time for high quality products at competitive prices.
